C. Abdi Güzer graduated from Middle East Technical University, Ankara in 1982 and later went on to do his PhD at Newcastle upon Tyne University as a participant in a British Council award program. Dr. Güzer is an expert on architectural criticism and still teaches at the Middle East Technical University, he has also been the General Secretary of Architects Association between 1996 and 2000 and Assoc. Dean of the Faculty of Architecture-METU between 2002 and 2003.

Dr Güzer has been a practicing architect since 1986 and his ideas have created buildings that are on a different scale of complexity in both Turkey and internationally in places like Tomsck in Syberia, Astana in Kazakhstan, Dubai and Nijni-Novgrad of Russia. He has been awarded numerous prizes in architectural competitions and most recently his design for the research institute building at Middle East Technical University, has been selected as the “best design” in the last five years of Turkish architectural practice; this intelligent building was designed around the concept of sustainability. Güzer is also a winner of the urban transformation project for the historical centre of Ankara-Ulus; within this project he has brought about the transformation of the neighbourhood of Haci, Bayram Mosque and the Temple of Agustus. This was widely published by the architectural media including NAI (Netherlands Institute of Architecture).

Other projects realised by Güzer include, Inonu University library and research buildings, Ankara Guven hospital complex, numerous housing and office projects, shopping malls, and other urban development projects.

Recently Dr Güzer became the senior designer and head of the architectural design team for international design and consultancy firm YPU. Already during his time with this company some of his finished projects include: Fenerbahce Basketball arena, Gaziantep Planetarium, Zeugma Museum and Dubai Palm Deria north Island Palm Hill’s project.

Working with Cumberland Properties, Dr Güzer’s influence can be seen at two of our newest developments where his unique approach and style is clearly evident.

At Woodland Regency the sleek modern homes have been designed to co-exist with the surrounding pine forest, uniting man and nature, and the ultra contemporary houses at Valley Gardens Regency have full length windows and fantastic sloping glass roofs that bring the spectacular views inside.

Dr. Güzer is also organising academic projects, alongside his colleague Dr. Lale Özgenel, under the organisation of CAG-AW. Among CAG Architectural Workshop’s completed and ongoing projects are Batman University master plan, Adiyaman University master plan including some faculty buildings and the Renda Palace Boutique Hotel.

Dr. Güzer has been featured in numerous national and international architectural publications and his projects and writings had been published in various architectural magazines.

His approach to architectural design is distinguishable with concepts that challenge conventional building typologies. With a unique approach each project is seen as an independent area of research where the context of the building is directly used as a reference and departure point, this allows him to stay away from the standard and often cliché design solutions.
